The meaning of the name Rex is *king* but at this point in his life, our Rex is willing to abdicate this throne in exchange for a place to lay his soft head for a few more years.
You see, Rex's family lost their home and could no longer afford to care for him. With broken hearts, they handed him over to rescue. Rex has been in boarding for quite some time, and we can only imagine that he is not only depressed but very confused.
This 11 year old youngster, who acts far younger than his age, He's only 35 lbs. LOVES to go for walks and LOVES cats! A very careful match would need to be made if he goes into a home with other dogs, though. The ideal home would be one where he is the one and only king of the household....at least where canines are concerned. By the way, Rex is currently in the Central Florida area...Orlando, to be specific.
We live in a society where seniors, both humans and animals, are all but tossed away as having no value. But for those of us who have fostered and adopted these precious old souls, we can vouch that there is nothing better than the love of an older dog. They ask for so little in return.......a place to lay their head, perhaps a lap ONCE in a while where they can lay their head. Is that REALLY too much to ask?
